Hygiene Program REQUIREMENTS
FOR GRADUATION
Requirements for graduation include successful completion of the program prerequisites, General Education courses, and the
Dental Hygiene core courses listed below. Once an equivalency and transferability determination is made, courses from
regionally accredited college or university may be used.
Selection for admission is based on completion of all required prerequisites with the appropriate grade point average (GPA), GPA
requirements for acceptance are as follows:

A minimum combined prerequisite science GPA of 2.70 in BIO 4, BIO 5, BIO 6 AND CHEM 30B. Effective May 1, 2015
all science prerequisites must be completed within the last six (6) years
A minimum English prerequisite GPA of 2.00 in College Composition (ENG 1A/1AH/1AHM/1AMCH)
A “C” or better is required in all GE college coursework

PREREQUISITES FOR THE DENTAL HYGIENE PROGRAM
The following prerequisite must be successfully completed before applying to the Dental Hygiene Program. If you have passed
a pre-requisite course with an A, B, or C, your GPA will not improve with repetition of that class.

GENERAL EDUCATION REQUIREMENTS
A.S. Degree requires completion of a general education pattern.
A Bachelor of Science/Bachelor of Arts Degree from a regionally accredited college or university may satisfy all general educ ation
and competency requirements for Cabrillo College non-transfer A.A. and A.S. degrees, with the exception of the multicultural
requirement and program specific graduation requirements. Please see the worksheet on reverse for detailed listing of required
courses.
HEALTH SCREENING AND CLINICAL COMPLIANCE
To comply with federal, state and local regulations for health care providers, students enrolled in the
Cabrillo College Dental Hygiene Program are required to meet health screening and clinical compliance according to program
guidelines, including vaccination and drug testing requirements, and provide documentation thereof. Students are also required to
complete a criminal background check and may be required to undergo fingerprinting. To read more information about Compliance

DH PHYSICAL AND NON-PHYSICAL STANDARDS
All students are required to submit the DH Physical and Non-Physical Standards signature page as part of the DH Application. Upon
acceptance into the program all students will be required to obtain a Physician’s Authorization documenting the ability to meet
