Broadband Apps Impact to the
Community
Facilitated by the use of applications and services supported by 3G technology, our Wireless
Reach programs have created solutions for the sustainable development of local fishing
communities that result in the integration of traditional knowledge and practices of local fishers
with advanced technology.
Mobile communications can play a critical role in promoting the development of rural
economies and in ensuring that people living in rural locations have access to information that
can increase their incomes, assist the well being of their families and provide opportunities to
better educate their children.
The community had a qualitative perception of the improvement of their quality of life with the
project and showed commitment.
Sustainable development also increased the community´s average income.
Broadband improves the standard of living in metropolitan areas as well as in isolated
communities.
The transition the newer technologies such as 3G and 4G are an opportunity to bridge the
digital divide in Brazil and in the region.
