Mobile communications can play a critical role in promoting the development of rural economies and in ensuring that people living in rural locations have access to information that can increase their incomes, assist the well being of their families and provide opportunities to better educate their children. The community had a qualitative perception of the improvement of their quality of life with the project and showed commitment. Sustainable development also increased the community´s average income. Broadband improves the standard of living in metropolitan areas as well as in isolated communities. The transition the newer technologies such as 3G and 4G are an opportunity to bridge the digital divide in Brazil and in the region.
