Study Abroad Enroll in coursework abroad that transfers back to your major or minor requirements. Programs often have their own criteria, such as a higher GPA or a language requirement, so you should read each program’s terms carefully. Proficiency in another language is often unnecessary, so you could study in English, even in non-English speaking places. Consider an internship abroad to strengthen your resume! Companies value intercultural skills and the ability to speak another language. Internships abroad often are voluntary rather than paid, but financial aid and scholarships may help defray costs if you earn credit. Service-Learning Abroad Give back to the world! Copenhagen, Denmark Hong Kong, Hong Kong S.A.R., China $9,163.80* Hong Kong Polytechnic University Hong Kong Polytechnic University sits at the beating heart of Kowloon, one of the oldest and most exciting neighborhoods in Hong Kong. This urban campus features English-language courses in apparel and textiles, as well as courses in Mandarin or Cantonese. Its program is fully equipped with large workspaces and the most recent design technology; in the spring semester, AT students may even participate in a fashion show. Hatfield, England, United Kingdom Florence, Italy Summer: $8,860.00* Lorenzo de Medici Institute Semester: $17,740.00* The Lorenzo de Medici Institute (or LdM) is one of the most popular programs for K-Staters and certainly features strong coursework and opportunities for ATID students. With its main campus in the historic and charming city of Florence, and smaller campuses in Rome and Tuscania, LdM offers all of its coursework in English, except for its Italian-language classes. Students may satisfy both major requirements as well as general education or elective classes with LdM’s wide catalog. LdM also features summer programs in addition to semester-long options. University of Hertfordshire An hour from London, the University of Hertfordshire gives you the best of both worlds: an active university town and easy access to the bustle of London. ATID majors may find specialized coursework to fit their requirements as well as a great deal of general education or elective courses. Hertfordshire is a very competitive program, so students should have at least a minimum GPA of 3.0 to apply.
