ART HISTORY
All art history courses meet 3 units of transfer credit. There are no limits in transfer
credit when students complete one course of art history. Limits apply after
completing one course in Western art. AH 11, 12, 13, & 14 are courses in Western
art for all students, and especially, for those who transfer to a UC campus. AH 20A
& 20B are courses in Western art for all students, especially for those who transfer
to a CSU campus. After completing one of these courses, students who enroll in a
second course should follow the transfer credit information listed under the specific
courses below.

Art of China, Korea and Japan

A survey of the history of the visual arts of China, Korea and Japan from ancient to
modern times. Recommended Preparation: ART 50L.

Art in America to 1900 
Surveys the native arts and European art traditions in colonial United States and
Canada to 1900. Recommended Preparation: ART 50L.

Appreciation/Introduction to the
Visual Arts
Introduces the forms, processes and styles of the visual arts. Hybrid Requisite:
Completion of or concurrent enrollment in ART 50L.

Ancient Art
Studies the art of Prehistory, Ancient Near East, Egypt, Crete, Greece, and Rome
through art historical analysis and related approaches to viewing art and images.
Recommended Preparation: ART 50L.
