Checklist for Fall 2016 Graduate Professional Studies We are very excited to welcome you to American University’s Graduate Professional Studies for the fall 2016 semester! As you prepare for your semester in DC, there are a few items you will need to complete. Complete your Required Registration forms by following the link below. Registration starts on April 14 and continues until the start of the semester. To secure your first choice elective courses, please submit your forms ASAP. → http://www.american.edu/spexs/admissions/admit/registration-and-forms.cfm Sign up for AU-Sponsored Housing in the Berkshire Apartments by June 1. After June 1, you will need to email knox@american.edu to find out if housing is still available. → Housing Link: https://starrez.american.edu/starrezportal Submit your resume for review to gps@american.edu. Encouraged to be completed by July 31. Start exploring the SPExS Internship Database and applying for internships. Start by July 15. → The Internship Database is available at https://spexs-csm.symplicity.com/students and Internship Advising Schedule is online at http://www.american.edu/spexs/admissions/admit/internship-advising.cfm. Obtain your required immunizations and mail your documentation to the Student Health Center. Due by July 15. → Information and instructions are available at: www.american.edu/ocl/healthcenter/Immunization-FAQs.cfm → The form is available under “Quick Links” and can be emailed to immunizations@american.edu. Please designate that you are a Fall 2016 student in your email. If you already have health insurance, waive the student health insurance. Waivers will be available starting June 13 and are recommended to be completed prior to July 31 to ensure accurate billing and coverage at the start of the semester. However waivers will be accepted through the final deadline of September 19. If you do not waive the insurance, a student health insurance premium of $780 will be automatically added to your bill. → www.american.edu/ocl/healthcenter/Health-Insurance-Waiver-Information.cfm Submit your photo for your AU ID card. Pay your semester bill (available mid-July, due August 1) using Eagle Finance. → For payment instructions please refer to: www.american.edu/finance/studentaccounts/Payment-Information.cfm Check your course schedule in your myAU Portal, under “Academics” then “My Class Schedule” by August 22. → Look up your required books using the schedule of classes (and clicking on “view books”). Graduate Professional Studies Orientation begins August 25. (International Student Orientation is August 24 for students arriving on a J-1 visa).
