Job Title: Counselor Department Name: Counseling Services Campus: Manhattan Starting date: July 1, 2016 or negotiable Job Summary: Full-time, 12-month, Counselor position provides psychotherapy/services (i.e. Individual, couples, and/or group therapy, etc.) to students; the following related services to the campus community: crisis intervention, consultation, outreach/presentations; and clinical consultation/support to trainees/staff at the agency, as well as service to the campus community as requested by our Director. As a member of the staff, coordination with other staff members on teams and in meetings will also be required for smooth operation and functioning of the agency. The position reports to the Director of the Counseling Services, which is a part of the Division of Student Life. Qualifications: Required: Master-level degree in a clinical mental health field. Minimum of one year post-graduate experience in the mental health field. Licensed as a clinical mental health provider in Kansas or licensed and able to practice independently within one year of hire (i.e. LMFT/LCMFT, LCSW, LPC, etc.). Preferred: A minimum of one year of work related experience at a college or university counseling center. Expertise in one or more of these areas: working with students who are military/military affiliated, providing outreach/presentations and/or coordination of outreach, supervision and/or training, eating disorders, or alcohol and drug issues. Experience in brief/solution focused therapy techniques; demonstrated competency in providing bilingual therapy; demonstrated competency in providing online/distance therapy. Responsibilities: Provide professional counseling and psychological services to individuals, couples, groups, and on-call emergency coverage. Participate in agency case conferences/case presentations to assist in service delivery. Engage in professional service and provide consultation, outreach, and educational activities to faculty/staff, campus groups, and classes. Participate in agency teams, for example, on the training team and in supervision of psychology interns and other trainees when needed. Attend staff meetings and staff inservice trainings.
