Checklist for International Applications

1. Financial Affidavit of Support – good for a 12 month time frame (12 months starts from
the date on the financial affidavit of support next to the student’s signature. Starting
August first there will be three locations Affidavit of Financial Support Forms
(Manhattan, Salina and Olathe) here is where you can find the forms: http://www.kstate.edu/grad/admissions/application-process/international/
If the applicant will be applying for a J1 or F1 visa, they will be required to complete the
affidavit form. If they are bringing dependents, funds must cover for them.
Applicants who will not need to submit the affidavit of financial support form are:






H1 visa holder employed full-time and does not plan to change visa type
Dependent of an H1 visa holder (H4) and does not plan to change visa
type
F1/J1 student visa holder enrolled full-time at another accredited U.S.
University who will not be requesting an I-20 or DS-2019 from Kansas
State University now or in the future.
Applicant residing in another country and does not need a student visa
(applying as a distance learning applicant)
Has a current I-20 or DS-2019 at K-State and is applying for a certificate
program in conjunction with their current master’s or doctoral program at
K-State.
F-2 visa holder who does not plan to change their visa type.
2. Bank Statement good for 12 months from the date the student signed (if they mark no
funds on the affidavit the bank document is not necessary).
3. TOEFL/IELTS/PTE required for all international students (if English is not the native
language in that country). Permanent Residents are also required to submit
TOFEL/IELTS/PTE scores if English is not the native language in the country. This
requirement helps you ascertain English proficiency so you know they will thrive in your
program. List of English Speaking Countries is attached.
4. Transcripts (unofficial transcripts are needed for the initial review if the student is
admitted the official transcripts will be requested in their admission letter).
5. Assistantship Form: if your program is offering an assistantship please indicate this on
the “decision tab within CollegeNET” and upload the assistantship form. The
assistantship form can be found on our secure website: http://www.kstate.edu/grad/faculty/. If you are unable to log in with your eID and password please email Camila Haselwood at camilas@ksu.edu to request access.
