Warwick Accommodation Bluebell 2015/2016 warwick.ac.uk/services/accommodation Arrivals To ensure that you have the best possible arrival experience, we strongly recommend that you follow the specific arrival instructions below and not those provided by a satellite navigation device- local road closures and temporary road diversions are in place. Arrival at the university Term will start on Monday 5 October. To make your arrival as smooth as possible and to facilitate the registration of new students, the University has implemented a staged arrival. If your family name begins: • A-L you are requested to arrive between 9.30am and 4.00pm on Saturday 3 October 2015 • M-Z you are requested to arrive between 9.30am and 4.00pm on Sunday 4 October 2015 Each residence will have its own reception area where residential staff and student volunteers will be present to assist you and answer any queries. If you arrive after 4.00pm you can collect your key from Student Reception, Senate House which will be open 7am-3am every day during the arrivals period. If you are due to arrive between 3am and 7am please email studentreception@warwick. ac.uk before your arrival and you will then be able to collect your keys from Security. Late arrival If you are unable to arrive before 11.00pm on Wednesday 7 October 2015, it is essential that you inform Warwick Accommodation by email, well in advance, stating the date on which you intend to arrive. If this is not done, any accommodation unclaimed by 11.00pm on Wednesday 7 October 2015 will be re-allocated. Reserved accommodation not claimed by 11.00pm on the notified day of late arrival will also be re-allocated. Student car parking Parking spaces are generally scarce at the University and that resident students are normally not permitted to bring cars with them. Temporary parking is permitted to allow unloading and loading at the beginning and end of each term. Electrical appliances requiring more than 500 watts Refrigerator Kettles Cooking equipment Pets- except to provide assistance to a person with a disability TV Licence If you are planning on watching live tv on any device (including via the internet) then you will need to purchase a TV licence. If you are found to be watching TV without a licence, then you may be prosecuted and fined up to £1,000. There are financial penalties for breaching this regulation. When smoking outside: • Be more than 3 metres away from entrances and windows • Always dispose of cigarette waste properly and safely If you arrive and realise you have forgotten to pack i.e. crockery, then don’t worry as there are plenty of shops nearby to campus where you can buy your essentials. Insurance Included within the accommodation fee, basic possession insurance is provided. Information regarding the hardware and software that students will require can be found at ResNet Service |2 warwick.ac.uk/services/accommodation “To enable security officers to guide you efficiently to the correct hall, you are requested to display the parking pass (AQUA BLUE block on page 6) within your windscreen and follow the instructions below.” Arrival by car www.warwick.ac.uk/keepingcampusmoving Directions It is strongly recommended that you travel to campus via A429 (Kenilworth Road) or Stoneleigh Road: 1. At the roundabout turn into Gibbet Hill Road and follow signs to the University 2. Take second right after exiting Kenilworth Road, please report to Security Staff stationed at Gibbet Hill Campus Car Park 1 (see access route map) 3. After reporting to staff at Car Park 1, you will be directed to Bluebell accommodation as and when parking spaces become available. At peak times you may have to wait in Car Park 1 for a short period of time. As you will appreciate, the arrival weekend is an extremely busy period with over 6,500 students arriving to take up their campus accommodation and we are grateful for your cooperation and patience in following the arrival instructions. 4. Upon arrival at Bluebell, resident staff will be available in Block 1 (Bluebell Social Space) to welcome you and provide you with your room key Short/Long stay parking Short stay parking will be possible in the vicinity of the individual halls but to prevent congestion you are requested to unload as quickly as possible (maximum 30 minutes) before following the signs to long stay parking in Car Park 9 & 10. Arrival by public transport • Students arriving by taxi should go to Car Park 1 and report to Security Staff stationed there. • Students arriving by bus should head straight to Bluebell Block 1 (Bluebell Social Space). Please unload as quickly as possible (maximum 30 minutes) and then head to Car Park 9 & Car Park 10 for long stay parking. |3 Map |4 |5 BLUEBELL (AQUA BLUE) When arriving at the University please follow the AQUA BLUE signs for BLUEBELL.
