Call for Presentations Regional Workshop on “Mobile Telecommunications & Fixed/Mobile Convergence - the realities going forward” Kiev, Ukraine, 12 - 14 September 2005 Deadline to submit Abstracts (max. 400 words) and Bios (max. 200 words): 31 July 2005 Submissions may be sent via e-mail to: tsbworkshops@itu.int This workshop will have several tutorial sessions on Mobile/NGN technology and ITU (ITU-T and ITU-R) standardization, and will examine the current status and future evolution with regards to rollout, policy, technology and applications. It will also share with the countries in this region some case studies and a panel discussion to identify the needs and action plan for the region. Globally and in many countries, there are now more mobile users than fixed users. This increasing “fixed” to “mobile” shift requires an essential re-examination of the relationship between “fixed” and “mobile” networks, with “mobility” playing a key role in the development of Next Generation Networks (NGN). Therefore, the intention of this Workshop is to highlight the ongoing work in ITU and elsewhere concerning the Mobile Telecommunications Networks, in particular the work on IMT-2000, Fixed Mobile Convergence and guidelines on the transition of existing mobile networks to IMT-2000 / NGN. We are seeking presentations from key Standards Organisations (SDOs), relevant forums/associations, ITU member states and ITU sector members. Dear Sir/Madam, The advance program of this Regional Workshop is attached. A number of participants from Administrations, Operators, and Regulators of the Area are expected. The Major manufacturers, industry associations, operators, academia, administrations and regulators from inside and outside the region are being invited to participate and to provide speakers for the Workshop. It would be highly appreciated if your organization could collaborate with ITU to further the success and value of this event by contributing to this Workshop. Abstracts of proposed presentations, together with a short CV of speakers, should be submitted to Ms. Xiaoya Yang and Ms. Tatiana Kurakova by 31st July 2005 to tsbworkshops@itu.int. Information concerning this event will be posted and regularly updated on the ITU web sites: www.itu.int/ITU-T/studygroups/com19 http://www.itu.int/ITU-T/worksem/imt2000/200509/index.html Thank you for your collaboration.
