Grad Advising News and Announcements
NEW Spring 2015 Graduation Applications Now Open
Students who intend to complete their degree requirements in the Spring 2015 semester may apply for graduation now via
their myAU portal (under Academics – Apply to Graduate). Please be aware that academic advisors will not begin
reviewing students' graduation eligibility until after Spring 2015 Add/Drop is over. Students who wish to confirm their
remaining requirements in advance should contact their advisor.
UPDATED Spring 2015 Registration Deadlines and FAQs
Spring 2015 registration for graduate students is now open. All current graduate students are pre-authorized to register students are not required to meet with their advisor prior to registration. The last day to initially register for spring
without a late registration fee is Friday, January 9. All internships (academic credit or non-credit) and all
independent studies (including SRPs and theses) must be registered by Thursday, January 22. For more
information, students are recommended to review the Spring 2015 Registration FAQs. FAQ topics include:

· Pre-Requisites
· Waitlists
· SRP, Thesis, Independent Study Registration
· MA Professional Experience Requirement
· Internship (Academic Credit or No-Credit) Registration
Now Scheduling Advising Appointments
The SIS Graduate Advising office is now scheduling 30 minute student appointments through the end of the fall semester.
Unlike Express Advising, appointments allow for more in-depth advising conversations, including longer-term
course/degree planning. We particularly encourage first semester students to consider meeting with their advisor if they
have not already. Appointments are available in-person or via phone or Skype, and can be scheduled by calling 202-8851690.

Applications to Graduate for Fall 2014 Overdue
Students planing to complete all program requirements this semester must apply to graduate via their myAU portal
(under Academics – Apply to Graduate) as soon as possible. Fall 2014 graduation applications are now overdue.

Thursday, December 4, 3:00-4:00pm, Letts Lower Level Conference Room
Workshop for students applying for the Boren Scholarship or Fellowship. This session is intended to help students
describe their language goals as part of their Boren application. The Boren funds study abroad programs in
underrepresented areas, such as Africa, Asia, Central and Eastern Europe, Eurasia, Latin America, and the Middle East.

Fellowship, Critical Language Scholarship or Fulbright Grant? If you can't attend one of our info sessions, join us during
our drop-in advising! Drop-in office hours provide an opportunity for AU graduate students to explore available
scholarships and fellowship programs. A Graduate Advising Fellow will be available to answer all general questions.
