Grad Advising Weekly Bulletin 3/2/15 - Last day to withdraw from Spring course
Grad Advising News and Announcements
NEW Last day to withdraw from a spring 2015 course - Friday, MARCH 6
Friday, March 6 is the last day that students may withdraw from a course for the spring 2015 semester. Withdrawing
from a course at this point in the semester will result in a 'W' on the student's transcript and no refund of tuition and could
have implications for financial aid. Students considering withdrawing from a course are encouraged to discuss any
possible consequences with their academic advisor and AUCentral. Students who cease attending a course after March
6 will not be allowed to withdraw, but will instead be assigned an administrative failure grade (FX). (This deadline does
not apply to SIS' 1 credit, weekend skills institutes, which may be dropped as long as the institute has not yet met. For
more information on skills institute registration, click here.)
Commencement Speaker Applications DUE MARCH 5
The School of International Service is now accepting applications for the 2015 SIS student commencement speaker(s). In

to take a position at Pace University in New York City. Until the Graduate Advising office hires a new advisor, students in

Now Scheduling Advising Appointments
The SIS Graduate Advising office is currently scheduling 30 minute student appointments. Unlike Express Advising,
appointments allow for more in-depth advising conversations, including longer-term course/degree planning. We
particularly encourage new students to consider meeting with their advisor. Appointments are available through midMarch, can occur in-person or via phone or Skype, and can be scheduled by calling 202-885-1690. Express Advising for
Summer and Fall 2015 registration will begin in late March.
Spring 2015 Skills Institutes
For an master list of all weekend skills institutes being offered this semester and registration instructions, including how to
make registration changes for skills institutes after add/drop, click here.
Apply to Graduate for Spring 2015
Students planning to complete all degree requirements in the Spring 2015 semester must apply to graduate via their
myAU portal (under Academics – Apply to Graduate). We recommend that you complete the application as soon as
possible (the application takes less than 5 minutes) so that your advisor can begin reviewing your graduation eligibility for
spring.
