For more information on the TOR exam and to register, click here. The last day to register for the November exam is Friday, November 6. The Graduate Advising office recommends that students planning to take the TOR exam to fulfill their language requirement do so early in their program. UPDATED Applications for Fall 2015 Graduation OVERDUE Students planning to complete all degree requirements in the Fall 2015 semester must apply to graduate ASAP via their myAU portal (under Academics – Apply to Graduate). Students planning to participate in the December 2015 Commencement ceremony may now rent their regalia and should do so no later than Friday, November 6. Rosenthal Fellowship helps to provide the next generation of international affairs professionals with the opportunity to hold summer internship in international affairs offices in the federal government. Fellows receive internship placements, and in some cases, financial stipends. For eligibility requirements and how to apply, click here. Applications are due Friday, October 30. Spring 2016 Registration Instructions and FAQs Registration for graduate students for Spring 2016 begins Monday, October 26 Friday, October 30, with graduate students assigned a registration appointment time to occur during that week. All current graduate students are pre-authorized to register as of their registration appointment time - students are not required to meet with their advisor prior to registration. Advisors will hold Express Advising hours Monday, October 19 Wednesday, November 4 to meet with as many students as possible during this busy time, and will not resume appointments until November 16. Grant recipients may be awarded up to $500 for domestic travel and up to $1000 for international travel to support these activities. DEADLINE SOON Spring 2016 Applications - Leeanne J. Dunsmore SIS Study Abroad Fund The Leeanne J. Dunsmore SIS Study Abroad Fund supports students from historically underrepresented groups who are interested in studying abroad. In her role at SIS, Associate Dean Dunsmore was a tireless advocate for increasing international student mobility, the recruitment of diverse graduate students, and institutional partnerships both in the U.S. and abroad. Her commitment to foster a diverse, inclusive and international SIS was seen in every aspect of her work. Both graduate and undergraduate SIS students who are participating in a study abroad program being offered at AU may apply for this scholarship. Scholarship recipients will be eligible to receive up to $1,000 for international travel and related program expenses. Economics Placement Exam (November 19-21) Registration Students wishing to take the SIS economics placement exam to waive the ECON-603 prerequisite to register for SIS-616 International Economics, SIS-620 Intro. to Environmental Economics, SIS-635 Intro. to Economic Development, or other economics courses may now register for the next available exam in November. Some MA programs may allow students to waive ECON-603 based on other criteria, so students should check with their academic advisor if they have any questions about whether they should take the exam. The online economics placement exam is offered live and is proctored (students must be on webcam during the test administration). The exam consists of 50 multiplechoice questions that cover both microeconomic and macroeconomic principles. Students have 90 minutes to complete the exam. Students may only take the examination once as an SIS graduate student. A passing score is a 74%. There are three different time options available in November: Thursday, Nov 19th: 5:30-7:00pm EDT Friday, Nov 20th: 9:30-11am EDT Saturday, Nov 21st: 10-11:30am EDT Please click here to register for the exam. The registration deadline is Friday, November 13. After registering, you will receive information about how to access the online testing space. This is the last exam period that will be offered prior to the Spring 2016 semester. Mr. Hafezi is a seasoned entrepreneurial business expert in the areas of strategy, change management, turnarounds, growth, capitalization and international market entry consulting. He has a demonstrated expertise in business development, reorganization and reengineering. Mr. Hafezi graduated from the IPCR program and later earned an MBA from Kogod School of Business.
