OUR ORGANISATION:
Hugtech Information Links (HIL) - a Center for Information
Society- came into existence in 2003 as a direct response
for the need to bridge the digital divide and build the
Information Society for academic communities in Nigeria.
Hugtech Information Links (HIL) is organized on the lines of
international Information and Communication Technologies
(ICTs)
capacity
building
&
human
empowerment
organization because of its mission statement and set
objectives.
Like many well- meaning organizations, we are motivated by
the urgent need to accelerate the pace of building the
Information Society for the academic communities in
Nigeria.
Its immediate concern was to chart a new course in
Information and Communication Technologies (ICTs) for
academic communities initiatives. It became necessary to
set it apart from its Parent company LAFERRI NIGERIA
LIMITED because of its peculiar role of designing a
comprehensive promotion & popularization campaign in
order to spread the benefits and features of the emerging
Information Society to Nigerian students & Lecturers in
tertiary institutions of learning.
As a development- oriented ICT Organization, we would be
involved in a number of ICT initiatives & events that
promote the ICT sector as the harbinger of the nation’s
economic rebirth.
OUR WORLD:
A world in which all students and lecturers in tertiary
institutions have easy, equal, broadband and affordable
access to the creative potentials of ICTs to increase their
academic space and create wealth in the emerging global
information Society.

To make Nigeria’s tertiary institutions of learning information
based academic communities and active player in the
emerging Information based environment.
MISSION STATEMENT:
To popularize & promote Information and Communication
Technologies (ICTs) for education, the creation of wealth,
poverty Eradication, employment generation and value
reorientation.
WHAT WE STAND FOR:
Hugtech Information Links (HIL) supports and promotes:
 The right of every Nigerian student and scholar to have
access to affordable and sustainable Information and
Communication Technologies (ICTs) access in Nigerian
tertiary institutions using a variety of solutions.

OBJECTIVES:
The strategic objectives of the organization included but not
limited to:
GENERAL OBJECTIVES.
 To promote Information and Communication Technologies
(ICTs) for Human capacity Building & National
Empowerment.
 To promote ICTs utilization & applications within Tertiary
Education’s sectors.
SPECIFIC OBJECTIVES:
 To bridge the digital divide and build information
Society for the country’s academic communities.
 To play a leading role in ICTs advocacy and campaign
in tertiary institutions throughout the country.
 To create the next generation of ICTs leaders that
would make Nigerian information based society.
 To enhance ICTs research, publication and teaching in
the tertiary institution of learning.
 To promote ICTs deployment and utilization for the
attainment of objectives as elaborated in the MDGS,
NEPAD, NEEDS, documents.
 To create information affluence through the effective
use of the new Information and communication
Technologies (ICTs).
 To help the students and lecturers in the tertiary
institutions take local contents on the Internet.
 To be a source of information/news on the issues and
trends of the emerging Information Society for
academic Communities in Nigeria.
 To encourage adoption of new technologies in higher
education and in the academic and social life of
students and scholars.

OUR NETWORK:
Hugtech Information Links functions as a network of
networks. Its primary network is with Information
&Communication Technologies (ICTs) and Higher education
practitioners and groups operating within the academic
communities.
Included in Hugtech Information Links's network is a range
of donor and development agency partners and regional
organisations promoting information Society in Nigerian
institutions of higher learning.

OUR FACULTY/TEAM:
HIL Personnel are drawn from Postgraduate students &
lecturers from partner departments & institutions around the
world in a variety of disciplines in tertiary institution of
learning. The choice of selection of content developers is
based on their being the most active in research &
advancement of academic learning.

PRESIDENT/CEO:
Uche Ugochukwu is the President/CEO of HUGTECH
Information Links (HIL). He was trained in Political Science
at the University of Nigeria, Nsukka, and is now completing
master degree in department of Public Administration &
Local Government with research interest in ICT4GOV. The
founder has occupied various leadership and management
positions.
He is enthusiastic, energetic and capable of innovative and
creative thinking around the use of Information and
communication technologies (ICTs) in socio-economic
development.
