Transition to NQT Year
The Statutory Induction for newly qualified teachers is “the bridge between initial teacher training and a career in teaching” 1 . As your initial teacher training period on the Warwick PGCE comes to an end it is important that you continue to reflect on your achievements, strengths and development needs so far and have considered your ongoing training needs as these will be addressed during your Induction period. An Induction Tutor in your new school will devise an Induction programme and monitor progress towards agreed targets and relevant Teachers’ Standards and, as with your Warwick PGCE, you will need to be fully involved in the process.
You should complete this Profile, discuss it with your personal tutor, and to meet current ITT requirements a copy of this form will be sent to your new school for the attention of your
Induction Mentor.
You should also retain a copy for your own use in preparation for and during your
Induction Period as a newly qualified teacher.

At this point you should:
Identify your key achievements;
Reflect on strengths in your practice so that you can build on them during induction;
Identify areas where, during your Induction period, you want to build your expertise or where your development so far has been more limited;
Where possible, reflect on your school’s priorities for your development
Set targets to address your development needs
Think about your aspirations for your teaching in the future.
