Meeting of TSB Director’s AHG on IPR matters

Dear Sir/Madam,

I would like to remind you that the TSB Director’s Ad Hoc Group on Intellectual Property Rights is to
meet at ITU headquarters, Geneva, 11 - 12 October 2012. I would also like to take this opportunity to
welcome those invited guests who will be joining us for this meeting.

Distribution of badges to registered participants will begin at 0830 hours at the Montbrillant
entrance. The meeting will open at 0930 hours on the first day. Detailed information concerning the meeting
room will be displayed on screens at the entrances of ITU headquarters. Discussions will be held in English
only.

The revised agenda is set out in Annex 1.

I should like to recall that the main purpose of the meeting will be to review the outcome of the ITU
Patent Roundtable which will have taken place on 10 October 2012, and to examine potential areas for
improvement regarding the Common Patent Policy for ITU / ISO / IEC and related Guidelines.

I should like to encourage members of the IPR Ad Hoc Group and invited guests to submit
contributions related to these topics.

Mindful of the wishes of certain participants, the deadline for submission of contributions has been
extended to 5 October 2012. All contributions should be sent to jur@itu.int .

All meeting documents will be posted on the Group’s website at https://extranet.itu.int/ipr-adhoc/.
As per standard practice, access to this website is restricted to IPR Ad Hoc Group members only. Invited
guests are therefore kindly requested to follow the guidance in Annex 2 to obtain a user name and password
allowing them access to the documentation for the 11-12 October 2012 meeting.

Establishing guest privileges
Step 1. Create a GUEST account via the ITU Information Systems web site
Please register for a GUEST account. You can create your GUEST account here:
https://www.itu.int/net/iwm/public/frmUserRegistration.aspx.
(Note - It will be possible for you to manage - through normal IT tools - where messages for that account are
forwarded, should that be your preference.)
Step 2. Request from IPR AHG Secretariat permission for participation in IPR AHG
To participate within IPR AHG you must request that your GUEST account have such a privilege. Send the
request in an email message to tsbipr@itu.int indicating the GUEST account to be authorized for access to
IPR AHG material. Your account will be added as a member of the IPR AHG SharePoint.
You will receive an email message welcoming you to the reflector and providing additional information
about how to participate; this is an acknowledgement that the registration will have been completed.
