WHAT IS SEXUAL HARASSMENT?
Sexual harassment is unwelcome sexual- or gender-based
verbal, written, online, and/or physical conduct.
“Sexual harassment in education includes any unwanted and
unwelcome sexual behavior that significantly interferes with a
student’s access to educational opportunities. The Supreme
Court has confirmed that schools have an obligation under Title
IX to prevent and address harassment against students,
regardless of whether the harassment is perpetrated by peers,
teachers, or other school officials” (Title IX, 1972).
RETALIATION
Retaliation is defined as any adverse action taken against a
person participating in a protected activity because of their
participation in that protected activity. Retaliation against an
individual for alleging a violation of their civil rights,
supporting a complainant, or for assisting in providing
information relevant to a claim, is a serious violation of the this
policy. Acts of alleged retaliation should be reported
immediately to the Title IX Officer or Deputy Coordinators.
WHY SHOULD YOU TELL SOMEONE?
