You’re the type of person who is Interested in all aspects of the law.
You have a desire to serve the public and your community, and whether
it’s learning the psychology behind criminal behavior or the way law
enforcement agencies operate, you’re ready to gain valuable
skills that can move you into a 4-year program or into a career
in criminal justice. In Northampton’s Associate in Applied
Science degree program, you’ll be taught by industry
professionals with years of experience in law
enforcement and the legal system, and you’ll

interactive simulations and field tours of

WHY IS THIS PROGRAM FOR YOU?
»» The career possibilities are virtually endless. Criminal justice majors go on to become corrections officers, crime scene
investigators, criminal profilers, criminologists, customs agents, federal special agents, game wardens, law enforcement
officers, parole officers, police detectives, private investigators, probation officers, security officers, substance abuse counselors,
and transportation security administration officers.
»» The program can be used for both academic entry and re-training and serves three types of students: those seeking entrylevel employment, those already employed in the system who seek professional advancement, and those who plan to pursue a
bachelor’s degree.
»» The biggest trend that is happening in the criminal justice sector is the rise in technology. There is currently a significant need
for various criminal justice professionals to understand, incorporate and embrace technology, which students can.
WHAT WILL YOU LEARN?
»» What are the functions, duties and roles of law enforcement officers at various levels in the criminal justice system? You’ll be
able to answer these questions and see how the functions of these roles has changed with societal behaviors.
»» You’ll be able to show knowledge of criminal law, criminal procedure, civil law and the courts as it relates to the legal system.
»» You’ll develop a full understanding of the corrections system in the United States and what trends emerge in different areas.
