In order to secure and monitor the home we design this project. The second priority is the house safety like fire accident or gas accidents. Both are plays a major role. We can control the home appliances with the help of the transmitter board which consist switches. While pressing the corresponding switch we can switch on the corresponding device at the receiver section or home section. Whenever person enters into the house light and fans are automatically switched on and when the person leaves the house light and fans are automatically switched off. Irrespective of this person can manually switch on/off the appliances with the transmitter kit which is situated in his hand. Whenever the emergency situation happens like fire accident or gas accident we can alert the house owner with the help of the SMS. By detecting fire in advance we can prevent fire in most cases. Keywords: ARM 7 LPC2148, appliances control, GSM and ZigBee. I.INTRODUCTION As technology is in advances, the several applications were developed in many fields. It is easy to control the home appliances using advanced technologies. There by we can reduce the power waste. By placing automatic light and fans we can switch off lights and fans whenever unnecessary and switch on when necessary. By placing an obstacle detection sensor at the entrance we can detect when a person is entering into the house and when he is leaving. Lights and Fans are automatically switched on when a person entered into the house. When the person leaves the house they can be automatically switched off. If he want to switch of the light even he is inside the house then he can switch off/on the electrical appliances with the help of the transmitter section which is available in his hand. By pressing the corresponding button on the board he can switch on or off the electrical device. When we press the button the transmitter board sends a bunch of commands to the receiver section with the help of Zigbee. The transmitter section sends corresponding commands of the switch pressed. Data can be received with the help of the Zigbee module placed at the receiver terminal. The device can be switches on by comparing the received data.Corresponding operation is done regarding the received data. We are UART (Universal Asynchronous and Receive Transmit) protocol for the communication with the Zigbee module. ISSN: 2231-5381 At the same time we are monitoring some important parameters like gas detection. The damage occurred when there is a gas explosion is very high. We can prevent the gas accident if we detect the gas in advance. If we have enough timer to prevent gas explosion then we can easily prevent the fire accident and reduce the damage. We are using the gas sensor to detect the gas leakage. Whenever the gas leakage occurs gas sensor detects and alerts the micro controller. If we receive alert from gas sensor then we sends an emergency message to the owner using GSM. The mobile no of the person is stored in the micro controller. Whenever the emergency situation occurs an alert message is send to the mobile no stored in the micro controller. We are using IR receiver for the obstacle detection. IR rays are known as Infrared rays. They have the wave length of 700 nm to 1mm. They are placed right next to the visible rays. Since the wave length of infrared rays are out of the visible range they are invisible to human rays. We are placing IR transmitter and IR receiver facing with each other. IR receiver is known as the IR photo diode which means voltage is generated whenever we are having infrared rays. Since we are placing our project is placed in door we don’t have problems with the sunlight. We are placing both the IR receiver and transmitter either side of the door. When a person walks through the door there is a brake ofIR rays. So that we can detect if anyone is entering to the room or going outside. GSM module is known as Global Service for Mobile communication. Now a days GSM is widely used in many applications like mobile phones. To communicate with the GSM module we need network coverage. In modern world we are having wide range of network. We are having mobile network in almost all cities and villages. The frequency band for the GSM modem in India are 900 MHz and 1800 MHz. Here we are controlling high voltage applications like light, fan. Operating voltage of light and fan are 230v AC supply. We can’t control the high voltage with the micro controller. In this case we are using the interface to control the AC 230v mains. We are using relays to control the electrical appliances. Relays are used to control the high voltage with the switching voltage of 5v, 12v and 24v regarding to our requirement. Relay is the combination of electromagnetic coil and single pole double through switch which are placed nearby. http://www.ijettjournal.org Page 406 International Journal of Engineering Trends and Technology (IJETT) – Volume 16 Number 9 – Oct 2014 II. When we switch on the project it sends initialization http://www.ijettjournal.org Page 408 International Journal of Engineering Trends and Technology (IJETT) – Volume 16 Number 9 – Oct 2014 commands to the LCD and GSM. It monitors the sensors like obstacle detection and fire detection. If obstacle detected Lights and Fans are ON/OFF according to the previse condition. If lights are already on then they off and vice versa. If Gas is detected then an emergency message is send to the number stored in the Micro controller. [5] C. Spelta, V. Manzoni,A.Corti,A. Machine language is complicated to write or understand. In such case we are writing our code in high level language like C and we are converting our C language code to machine language. Keil compiler is used to convert the C language code into the machine language code. After compiling C language code HEX file is generated. Flash magic is used to dump our HEX file into micro controller. Keil and flash magic are two software toolsused. [10] Atmel AVR Microcontroller Primer: Programming and Interfacing Steven F.
