Blood on the Beach: A 1950s Murder Mystery
Enjoy a night of intrigue by torchlight on this murder
mystery walk around Cromer. Solve the terrible fate of
Professor Cecil Hunter, a visiting fossil hunter who has

THE FISHERMEN’S HERITAGE CENTRE
Travel Back in Time
Meet costumed characters and learn about Sheringham’s
lifeboat heritage, the brave fishermen who manned the
town’s first lifeboats and their rescues. See the historic
Henry Ramey Upcher lifeboat which saved over 200 lives
during its service from 1894 to 1935.

Sailor Valentines
Drop in and see the stunning and vast collection of shell
artworks and learn about how shells were used to create
decorative objects for Victorian homes. Find out how Sailor
Valentines were made from small seashells which 19th
century sailors gave to their loved ones, and help create a
large-scale Sailor Valentine with real shells. All materials
provided, but please bring an apron if possible. Booking for

The Wailing Wood
Sheringham Little Theatre Drama Group present this
new play which dramatises the true story of two children
murdered in Norfolk’s Wayland Wood in the 16th century
and is the basis of the traditional ‘Babes in the Wood’

Rhododendron Party
We invite you to a special vintage evening to
enjoy our famous ‘Wild Garden’ which peaks in
May. Tom Upcher, the last owner of the estate,
would celebrate by throwing rhododendron
champagne parties – a tradition which began
in the 1950s. Our event will rekindle the spirit
of these soirees. Enjoy live music and a bar,

A day in the life of RAF North Creake. 6 January 1945
– Ten Stirlings and four Halifax take off to carry out
Radio Counter Measures. 171/’A’ is missing, nothing
being heard of the aircraft after take-off. Guided tours of
this 1943-built Control Tower on the former RAF North
Creake Airfield will tell the story of that day and the
history of the Tower with display boards and artefacts.
Tours take around 1.5 hrs and must be pre-booked.
The 8.30pm tour includes a torch-lit trip up to the
roof at night. Refreshments available to buy.

The Mystery of Mystery Myst
Enjoy the story of a boy called Snapper and three children
who try to solve ‘The Mystery of Mystery Mist.’ Performed
by The Puppet School and featuring muppet puppets and
volunteer puppeteers. Optional afternoon buggy-walk from
Fakenham Gateway Children’s Centre to the Library at
1pm before the performance.
Memories of a Conflict:
Fakenham during the Second World War
Meet a ‘Norfolk Home Guard’, find out how Fakenham
coped during WW2 and what evidence remains today,
in an illustrated talk by Dr Mike Bridges. The Fakenham
Community Archive will show photos from Fakenham
then and now, and how to access their online archive.
Option to join in a guided walk to Fakenham Museum
after the talk.

Hugh Mungus the West Runton elephant and his friend
