Recreation Assistant (Ref 2064) Service Area Sports and Leisure Services Manager/Team Leader Sports Centre Supervisor Direct reports N/A Total Managed N/A Purpose of the Role To provide support to customers and where necessary other staff engaged in a range of sports activities. To assist customers and other users in other areas of the centre including reception, bar and other social areas of the centre. Key Result Areas 1. To assist in the formal instruction and training of clients in a specific or range of sports activities or disciplines. 2. To assist individuals, groups of customers and users visiting the centre and where necessary make them aware of safety and other procedures. 3. To contribute to ensuring the centre facilities are clean and kept in good order including the preparation, maintenance and upkeep and storage of equipment for use by clients. 4. When required organise and support the activities of sessional staff, students, trainees and volunteers working at the centre and assist with staff training and development programmes. 5. Lead and supervise groups of children when organising school holiday sports programme. If/when qualified provide coaching at those sessions. 6. Lone working responsibility. 7. At times open and close the facility, checking security of the building. 8. Manage lost property for the facility. 9. Deal with normal day to day comments/queries from customers, ensuring they have sufficient information for the facility at all times. 10. To participate in staff meetings and contribute to the effective running of the team. 11. When required contribute to the development and delivery of programmes of off-site and outreach activity aimed at extending the range of activities available to existing users and attracting new ones. 12. Should be able to work at any of the three facilities as/when required – either Cromer, North Walsham or Stalham Sports Centre. 13. Take reasonable care for the Health and Safety of yourself and other persons who may be affected by your actions.
