Economic Data Analyst (Post 2170) - grade 9 Service Area Economic and Community Development Manager/Team Leader Economic Growth Manager Direct reports N/A Total Managed N/A Purpose of the Role To provide economic data analysis to support the development, implementation and evaluation of plans, strategies and projects To research markets and develop practical insights to support funding applications, respond to enquiries and share and understand good practice To work with colleagues across the Council (and partner organisations) to deliver technical support on economic and econometric analysis and studies. To monitor the performance of relevant projects, programmes and initiatives and to maintain records, publish information and produce reports, as appropriate. Principle Activities / Objectives 1) Working on own initiative with minimal supervision, carry out and quality assure economic analysis, including labour market analysis, on a range of projects, using all levels of datasets (National, LEP and local) using a variety of statistical techniques. 2) Undertake data analysis and research into issues pertaining to labour market and education/ skills issues to support analytical project work and project / funding proposals, summarising and presenting the findings using appropriate techniques. 3) Support the design, development, maintenance and evaluation of monitoring approaches for projects and programmes, to evidence and justify impacts and report on the outcomes. 4) Monitor and provide relevant input into the evaluation of programmes and projects. 5) Provide information in support of responses to economic development related enquiries. 6) Devise novel and appropriate ways of interpreting and presenting information, including using Geographic Information Systems (GIS); designing and disseminating regular Local Economic Assessments. 7) Liaise with the GIS coordinator to ensure that GIS is embedded in everyday management of data within the Economic Growth team. 8) Liaise with partner organisations to gain suitable contextual data and feed in local District level data, supporting the analysis / presentation and formatting of reports. 9) As appropriate, develop and maintain a close working relationship with other technical support officers across the District (and wider as required). 10) provide appropriate support to internal and external economic development meetings, partnerships and other fora, as appropriate. 11) To take responsibility for your own Health and Safety at work and that of others who may be affected by your actions. 12) Any other work required and as directed within the confines of the existing grading and post.
