AnalyticEssay StudentswillcomposeashortacademicessayintegratingProblem‐SolutionEssaytechniques.Goal:To demonstratethatstudentscanintegratesources,readandunderstandshortacademicarticles,andusean evolvingthesis. LiteratureReview Inthisassignment,studentswillwriteashortliteraturereview.Youmaychooseyourowntopic,butkeepin mindthatthisassignmentwillbemoreusefultoyouifyourtopicrelatestosomethingyouarestudyingin anothercourse(4‐6pages). Goal: To prepare students to write literature reviews in their current courses and for future academic research. MajorPaperfromaContentCourse In this assignment, students will use a major paper from the content course they are currently taking. The studentswillmeetwiththeinstructoroverthesemestertocompleteit;in‐classactivitieswillalsosupport thisproject.Wewillmeetveryearlyinthesemestertodiscussthetopicandplanfuturemeetings.Inlater meetings, we will focus on (1) revising the paper itself, (2) developing a plan to mobilize other campus resourcestohelpcompletethepaper(referencelibrarians,AcademicSupportCenterorlibraryworkshops, WritingLaborWritingCenter,meetingwiththecontentprofessor,etc.),and(3)checkinguponhowyouare usingthoseresources.(Thepaper’slengthwillbeafunctionofcontentcourserequirements).
