The faculty voted to approve the April 13, 2016 meeting minutes. II. The following items were recommended by the Committee on Academic Priorities and approved by the faculty: A. New permanent courses: 1. ENG 273 Bloomsbury and Sexuality 2. FLS 237 The Documentary Impulse 3. FLS 244 Global Media: The Musical! 4. GER 298 Language on Location II: Culture, Society, Environment 5. LAS 400 Special Studies 6. POR 233 Borderlands of Portuguese: Multilingualism, Language Policy, and Identity 7. PSY 225 Memory in Literature B. New dual-prefix courses: 1. POR 201/ARH 201 Brazilian Art Inside and Out 2. TSX 330/CLT 330 Translating Across Borders C. New permanent topics: 1. ENG 120 Colloquia in Literature. Topic: Literature and War 2. LAS 201 Colloquium in Latin American and Latino/a Studies. Topic: Latin American Film Today: Global Visions, Local Expressions D. Curricular items: 1. Creation of a major in MES. 2. Creation of a major in SDS. 3. Request from Art: Revision of the Architecture major, now called Architecture & Urbanism. 4. ARS 161 Design Workshop I and ARS 164 Three-Dimensional Design no longer prerequisites for ARS 272 Intaglio Printmaking, ARS 273 Sculpture I, ARS 275 The Book: Theory and Practice I, ARS 269 Offset Printmaking I and ARS 270 Offset Monoprinting. 5. EGR 290 Engineering Thermodynamics to add CHM 111 Chemistry I: General Chemistry as prerequisite. III. The faculty voted to approve the following two related motions. The details of both motions are recorded in materials for the April 27 faculty meeting. A. Motion 1 (presented by Faculty Council): Alignment of Policy and Code. B. Motion 2 (presented by the Subcommittee on Tenure and Promotion): Updating of the Policy. IV. In response to a discussion on the Motion to form an ad hoc committee to consider editing the College’s 1992 Statement on Academic Freedom, the question was called and a supermajority of faculty voted to end the discussion and move to a vote on the motion. V. The faculty voted to approve the following motion, brought by Faculty Council. An earlier version of the motion is recorded in the materials for the April 27 faculty meeting, and the full final version is recorded in the minutes of the meeting. A.
