Course Assessment Questionnaire
The Course Assessment Questionnaire is designed to assist instructors as they
revise their courses and teaching practices and to assist in the evaluation of
instructors and courses.
Teaching and learning require both the teacher and the student to be responsible for
creating an effective learning environment. Keeping that shared responsibility in mind,
please answer the following questions about 1) your role as learner 2) the course and 3) the
quality of instruction.
1.
How would you describe your own efforts to learn in this course?
Consider not only how much work you did for the course but also the kind of thinking
you did in order to accomplish the work. Consider your contributions to class
meetings, group work, discussion and your role in your own learning in this course.
2.
What features of this course made the most valuable contributions to your
learning? In what ways could specific features of this course be improved?
Try to focus your response on specific course activities and how they affected the
kind of thinking you did about the course content (e.g. use of class time, lectures,
discussions, group work, projects, papers, problem sets, assignments, readings,
videos, fieldwork, labs, reflections, portfolios, performances, in-class demonstrations,
office hours, review sessions, peer review of work, use of instructional technologies,
etc.). Consider whether and/or how your engagement and learning could have been
enhanced.
