This is a unique program that allows beginning translators the opportunity to work with professional Dalkey editors in a way that allows participants to see their translations move beyond the classroom and into the world. Thus far, over 10 books have seen publication, and 18 others are in process. WHEN January 12 – April 10, 2015 WHO • Translators at an early stage in their careers who are ready to undertake a major translation but are still in need of working very closely with editors • Both native English speakers and non-native speakers with superior English-language skills are encouraged to apply • Translators of all languages welcome, especially those from lesser-used languages WHAT The program will consist of weekly individual Skype sessions, during which participants will receive instruction in writing readers’ reports, cover letters to editors, grant proposals, and other critical documents. Students will also prepare sample translations to be evaluated by Dalkey editors and cooperate with the editors to complete their first book-length translation into English. FEES $6,500 Fellowships may be available up to $1,000. Please indicate in your application whether you will be applying for a fellowship towards the cost of the program.
