THE STATE OF TEXAS EXECUTIVE DEPARTMENT AUSTI N, TEXAS EXECUTIVE ORDER INCREASING THE MEMBERSHIP ON THE SPECIAL ADVISORY COUNCIL ON HOUSING The need for a more active state involvement in the delivery of housing for low income persons has increased significantly during the last two years. This is partially a result of the fact that the rapidly increasing cost of housing is making it more and more difficult for low income persons to obtain adequate housing and partially the result of the fact that the federal government is passing on increasing responsibilities to states for the delivery of federal housing programs. Increased cooperation is needed from state agencies, local governments and private industry. Therefore, the Executive Order of the 7th day of December 1971 establishing the Special Advisory Council on Housing to the Texas Department of Community Affairs, pursuant to the authority invested in the Governor by Senate Bill 80, Chapter 879, General and Special laws of the State of Texas, 62nd Regular Session of the Texas Legislature, is hereby amended to read as follows: The Special Advisory Council on Housing shall include fifteen members appointed by the Governor for staggered terms of six years, and shall include a chairman chosen by the Governor to serve in that capacity at the pleasure of the Governor. The Special Advisory Council on Housing shall be responsible for advising the Department of Community Affairs on basic policy and program formulation related to housing, and on technical aspects of housing-related programs which may be the responsibility of the Texas Department of Community Affairs.
