The Center for Management Communication offers the core Communication Strategy class (BUAD 302), which provides
the foundation for developing specialized communication skills in areas such as global business management, teamwork,
new media and technology, persuasion, and leadership. The importance of effective communication to the success of
businesses and organizations has increased exponentially in the age of globalization and exploding social networks; today,
instant media reporting brings business news to the world in seconds. A solid understanding of communication theory,
combined with opportunities for practical skills development, will help students advance themselves and their
organizations.

EXECUTIVE-LEVEL COMMUNICATION: Students
interested in distinguishing themselves as potential leaders as
they prepare for the job market should seek every opportunity to
gain confidence as presenters and practice the communication
strategies introduced in BUCO 302. The BUCO 445 course uses
a coaching model to help students take their communication and
critical thinking skills to a new level.
BUCO 445: Building Oral Communication Expertise;
4 units
INTERNATIONAL BUSINESS: Taking courses that focus on
intercultural and international communication competence will
help students compete in an increasingly global marketplace.
These electives enable students to understand different cultures
and universal systems to deepen their interpersonal, cultural, and
organizational communication skills and prepare them to be
successful in international business settings.
BUCO 333m: Communication in the Working World:
Managing Diversity & Conflict; 4 units
NON-PROFIT, CSR, AND SOCIAL
ENTREPRENEURSHIP: The non-profit sector is rapidly
expanding in scope and influence. Students can explore the
communication issues and challenges that nonprofit manager’s
face, as well as design communication tools and tactics used to
conduct fundraising and visibility campaigns and demonstrate
accountability in a variety of private and public partners.
BUCO 333m: Communication in the Working World:
Managing Diversity and Conflict; 4 units
NEW MEDIA AND INNOVATION: These course offerings
focus on creativity and the impact of social media. Students
explore the use of the full range of social media tools used by
businesses today. Coursework will also help students to enhance
the managerial communication skills needed to foster workplace
creativity.
