CALL FOR BRAGA 2016 EURO-IBERO-AMERICAN YOUTH FORUM DELEGATES Dear all, Braga 2016 – Euro-Ibero-American Youth Forum will be held between Monday, the 22nd and Sunday, the 28th of August, 2016. To help make it the extraordinary event we believe it can be, we are now looking for 120 students, aged 18 to 24, from all over Europe and the 21 Member States of the Ibero-American Youth Organisation to apply as Delegates. The candidates must currently attend a university programme (a Bachelor’s, Master’s, Doctoral or other postgraduate degree programme), have a strong interest in debating international affairs and discussing pressing issues that will have a direct impact on their lives, while enjoying a six-day programme packed with great debates and many cultural activities. TEAM BUILDING A series of group exercises aimed at helping the participants define their own rules and working procedures, adapted to their personalities and guided by volunteers with years of experience. During these first two days, the participants will learn to overcome prejudice in an atmosphere of constructive discussions, constant feedback and mutual help, strengthening both their spirit and ability to work as a team. COMMITTEE WORK The Forum will give its participants the chance to meet over 170 bright, young people from up to 60 countries in Europe and Ibero-America. Also for that reason, please note that, both in the run-up to and during the Forum, all the work and socialising will take place in English. By the end of the event, the participants will have improved their ability to work under the pressure of strict deadlines, learned how to mediate conflicts and work towards achieving common goals as members of multicultural teams and developed critical thinking, together with better reasoning skills and the knowledge to defend their thoughts with greater eloquence. Over the following two days, each of the recently formed Committees will face the challenge of writing a Motion for a Resolution on one of the various topics of debate. Departing from the knowledge gathered during the long period of preparation before the event, the students will work to find solutions that are both adequate and innovative. This work will then be compiled into a Motion for a Resolution to be shared with all the participants. Under the umbrella theme ‘Sustainable Development: Intercontinental Partnerships for People, Planet and Prosperity’, based on the Sustainable Development Goals approved, in September 2015, at the 70th General Assembly of the United Nations, the Forum will include two days of Team Building, two days of Committee Work and two days of General Assembly. These are the key moments of every European Youth Parliament event – to the right, you can find a brief description of each: GENERAL ASSEMBLY MORE INFO FACEBOOK.COM/BRAGA2016 The final two days of the Forum will bring together all the participants at a plenary session where each Motion for a Resolution will be presented, debated and voted. The adopted Resolutions will be compiled and distributed to all relevant civil society actors, as well as regional, national and international policymakers.
