Eligibility Requirements
1. Submission of a Michigan Tech application to study abroad (http://www.mtu.edu/international/
study-abroad/apply/app/) by February 1st.
2. Commitment to and evidence of being an "International leader" in campus Internationalization
activities (e.g. International Club, Parade of Nations, International Speakers Programs, Study
Abroad Recruiting, etc.).
3. Recipients of the FLSAS will be required to support the recruitment of future faculty-led study
abroad students by attending a minimum of two on-campus recruitment events such as the study
abroad fair, information nights and International Education Week. This requirement must be
fulfilled within 12 months of the recipient's study abroad experience.
Please address the following questions in essay form (800 words maximum).
What led you to select this particular study abroad program? Address any academic, career,
and/or personal goals that were part of your decision, and expand on one or more of them.
In addition, please elaborate on how you will use your experience abroad to enrich the
Michigan Tech campus, your academic field, and/or the global community.
Finally, if there are any extenuating circumstances that you would like the committee to
take into consideration please describe them in your essay.
