Course Goal:
To introduce the skills needed and knowledge required for building innovative, highvalue, and sustainable business models
Course Objective:
 Learn the basics of business model within the context of the unique advantages
and challenges posed by new technologies;
 Build your ability to communicate concisely and persuasively both orally and in
writing;
 Gained experience working in teams; and,
 Actually design a business model with your team for an entrepreneurial idea.
Course Outline:
 Concept and definition of business model
 9 building blocks of a business model: value proposition, target customers,
customer relationship, channel, revenue stream, key partners, key activities, key
resources, cost structure
 Business model patterns (a series of case analyses): unbundled, long-tail, multisided, free, and open
