Suggested project Case Study - Walkerton In 2000, the water supply at Walkerton (Canada) became contaminated with a dangerous strain of e-coli. Prior to the outbreak, there was significant rainfall from a dairy farm adjacent to a well. The well had been known to be prone to contamination. As a result of the contamination, seven people died and about 2,500 people (from a town with a population of 5,000) became ill.
