Fall 2010 Fraternity/Sorority Report
Educational Programming
• The fraternity/sorority community held its third annual Greek New Member Orientation for 52 new members on November 13, 2010.
Councils
• Interfraternity Council
o IFC hosted an educational workshop with SAVE – Sexual Aggression and Violence Education student group.
• Panhellenic Council
o Alpha Xi Zeta became Associate Members of the Panhellenic Council.
Academics
• Fraternity men achieved a term GPA of 2.68, while Sorority women achieved a term GPA of 2.92.
• The fraternity/sorority community recorded a term GPA of 2.76 (highest term GPA set in 4 years)
Recruitment & Membership
• 68 undergraduate men joined fraternities in the Fall 2010 semester.
• 35 undergraduate women joined sororities in the Fall 2010 semester.
• Fraternity/Sorority communities are in the process of reviewing the current non-deferred recruitment structure.
Leadership & Involvement
• 5 undergraduate members representing 3 chapters attended the Undergraduate Interfraternity Institute (UIFI) in Bloomington, IN this summer.
• 17 undergraduate members representing 6 chapters attended The LeaderShape® Institute hosted by Michigan Tech.
Discipline
• The following organizations were found to be responsible and were sanctioned for violating university policy during Fall 2010:
o Sigma Tau Gamma – Organizational Suspension until To Be Determined
• The following organizations continue their probationary status with the university for previous violations:
o Tau Kappa Epsilon – Organization Probation until February 15, 2011
o Sigma Rho – Organizational Suspension until January 1, 2011
o Alpha Delta Alpha – Organizational Suspension until May 1, 2011
• The following organization was placed on Academic Warning for Fall 2010 for Spring 2010 Cumulative GPA less than 2.50:
o Sigma Pi
