Spring 2012 Fraternity/Sorority Report
Overall Updates:
 PLEASE NOTE: Beginning with Fall Semester 2012, Student Activities is raising the minimum semester and cumulative grade point average
required of an organization officer to 2.25. This will apply to anyone seeking a leadership position within a registered student organization including
but not limited to roles such as President, Vice President, Treasurer, and Secretary, regardless of position titling as outlined in constitutions.
Involvement in student organizations is meant to enhance a student’s experience at Michigan Tech and should not be a justification for grades to
decline.
Educational Programming
 Panhellenic Council hosted Deb Ensor, National Panhellenic Conference (NPC) area advisor.
Recruitment & Membership
 13 Greek members were initiated into Order of Omega in Spring 2012.
Involvement
 Sigma Phi Epsilon Fraternity won first place for the Fraternity Division of Winter Carnival 2012.
 Theta Chi Epsilon Sorority won first place for the Women’s Groups Division of Winter Carnival 2012.
Service
 Greek Week Blood Drive collected 253 pints of blood, saving 759 lives.
 85 members of the Greek community volunteered during the drive.
 418 items were collected during Hunger Week with Delta Upsilon winning the IFC competition, collecting 59 boxes of cereal weighing
1191 ounces.
Awards & Recognition
 Triangle Fraternity went from a colony to chapter status.
 Tau Kappa Epsilon Fraternity won 2012 Greek Week.
 Greek Life Awards
o Chapter of the Year - Sigma Phi Epsilon Fraternity
o Greek Man of the Year – Keith Jurek (Delta Upsilon)
o Greek Women of the Year – Allison Gleiss (Alpha Sigma Tau)
 Student Leadership Awards
o Women of Promise - Jessica Thoresen (Delta Zeta) in Biological Sciences
o Vice President’s Award for Service - Jessica Thoresen (Delta Zeta)
