Standardized Time Blocks for Fall and Spring Semesters
Standardized time blocks for scheduling fall and spring semester classes* have been established for lectures,
recitations, and stand-alone lab courses (labs that do not have a lecture or recitation component). These time blocks
were established in order to maximize utilization of classroom space, allow students greater flexibility in scheduling
classes by minimizing time conflicts, and apply scheduling policies in a consistent and equitable manner across campus.
These time blocks do not apply to the summer semester nor lab sections that meet once per week. **

**Online classes and graduate-level classes may be scheduled at alternate times in consultation with the Senior Coordinator for Student Services.

Per University Senate policy, no classes may be held
between 6:00 PM and 7:00 PM Monday through Friday.
One-Credit/Contact Hour Sections
Beginning with fall 2009, one credit courses may meet
anytime during the day (so long as it fits into the normal time
blocks). These courses will be the last ones to receive a room
assignment so as to maximize room utilization. If academic
departments pair their 1 credit course with a 2 credit course to
fill a full time block, then both courses will be scheduled with
the rest of the classes in the department so it isn’t the last to
be seated.
