By signing below, I am stipulating that I understand and agree to the following requirements for use of federal and/or
HOPE Scholarship funding as a transient student:
(1) I understand that Gordon College is my home institution, and will be responsible for disbursing all
appropriate federal aid to my account. I also understand that I cannot receive federal aid at two different
institutions during the same term.
(2) If receiving HOPE scholarship funding, I understand that those funds will be applied by the host institution
once the HOPE Eligibility for Transient Study form is received via Surfer from the Gordon College Financial
Aid Office. I further understand that I may be required to pay for the transient courses with my own funds
and be reimbursed with HOPE scholarship funds in accordance with the refund policy of the host institution.
(3) I understand that if I am receiving federal funds for transient study I will be required to pay for the classes
that I enroll in at the host institution (not Gordon College) with my own funds, and will be reimbursed within
14 days of the date that Gordon College receives proof of payment from the host institution. I further
understand that I will be responsible for furnishing proof of payment to Gordon College in order to be
reimbursed. I understand that it is my responsibility to notify Gordon College if I withdraw from or cease
attending any courses at the host institution at any time during the semester for which I am enrolled. Failure
to do so could result in my financial aid being adjusted at a later date resulting in a balance due Gordon
College that I would be required to pay.
(4) I understand that a hold will be placed on my account which will prevent future disbursements of financial aid
until a copy of my final transcript for the semester that I attended the host institution as a transient student is
submitted to Gordon College for review. I also understand that the coursework attempted at the host
institution will count in both the Satisfactory Academic Progress Calculation and the HOPE Scholarship
Eligibility Calculation. Beginning fall semester 2011, Learning Support Courses that are attempted in the fall
2011 and subsequent semesters will not be counted in either the Satisfactory Academic Progress
Calculation or the HOPE Scholarship Eligibility Calculation. However, all Learning Support Courses
attempted prior to the fall 2011 semester will count in both calculations.
(5) I understand that I will not be able to receive federal funding for a course that will Gordon College will not
accept for credit from the host institution. Federal funding is only available for transient study if the course or
courses being taken will count in the degree program the student is currently pursuing.
