For example, if the difference between the B and the E threshold is 24 marks, the C threshold is set 8 marks below the B threshold and the D threshold is set another 8 marks down. If dividing the interval by three results in a fraction of a mark, then the threshold is normally rounded down. The thresholds for the syllabus are determined first by adding together the thresholds for the components taken by the candidate. A reduction may be made at the higher grades depending on the correlation of the papers. If the maximum raw marks for the components are not in the weighting/relationship specified in the syllabus, a weighting is applied to arrive at the overall thresholds. The A* threshold is calculated using the difference between A and B as a starting point. The maximum total mark for this syllabus is 200 for A Level and 100 for AS Level. For this syllabus in this series the grade thresholds were as follows: Option Combination of components A* A B C D E EX 51, 66, 71 161 140 119 103 87 71 © Cambridge International Examinations 2013 om .c s er Cambridge International Advanced Subsidiary and Advanced Level Cambridge International Advanced Subsidiary and Advanced Level 9695 Literature in English November 2013 Grade Thresholds Option Combination of components A* A B C D E EY 52, 66, 72 161 140 119 103 87 71 EZ 53, 66, 73 161 140 119 103 87 71 GX 51, 61, 67 160 140 120 102 84 66 GY 52, 62, 67 160 140 120 102 84 66 GZ 53, 63, 67 160 140 120 102 84 66 HY 52, 67, 72 159 139 119 100 82 64 HZ 53, 67, 73 159 139 119 100 82 64 IY 08, 52, 67 165 144 123 102 81 61 IZ 08, 53, 67 165 144 123 102 81 61 SX 31, 41 66 62 54 46 39 32 SY 32, 42 66 62 54 46 39 32 SZ 33, 43 66 62 54 46 39 32 Grade Thresholds are published for all Cambridge International AS/A Level and Cambridge IGCSE subjects where a corresponding mark scheme is available. © Cambridge International Examinations 2013
