While most people are making plans for
the festive season, here at Change4Life
we’re busy with big plans for the new
year. We hope you’ll join in with our
exciting Change4Life supermeals
campaign to help adults and families
plan their shopping so that they can
prepare quick, easy and healthier meals
on a budget.
Having successfully established 3,000 Change4Life
Sports Clubs and introduced over 60,000 secondary
school children to seven Olympic sports, we’re
delighted to be working with the Youth Sport Trust
to set up 4,500 Change4Life Sports Clubs in primary
schools to help children develop the skills and
confidence they need to get active for life.

Cooking is a great activity for everyone and
even the pickiest of eaters are more likely
to try something new if they’ve spent time
making it - why not set up some cooking

Change4Life
Sports Clubs
Activity is great for health at any age
but some children and young people lack
the skills or confidence to enjoy physical
activity and sport and can find this a barrier
to getting their daily 60 active minutes.
Since 2010, Change4Life Sports Clubs
have been creating a network of schoolbased sports clubs that use Olympic and
Paralympic sports and values to motivate
and inspire less active children and young
people to participate in physical activity
and sport.
So far, 3,000 secondary clubs have been set
up, introducing over 60,000 young people
to seven Olympic and Paralympic sports.
Following this success – and working in
partnership with the Youth Sport Trust – this
exciting initiative will be extended to primary
schools. From January, 4,500 Change4Life
Sports Clubs will be created in primary
schools with the aim of developing the
sporting skills and confidence of less active
children in years 3 and 4.
Schools hosting a club will start to
receive the information and tools they
need to set up, deliver and sustain a club
from mid-December. Find out more about
this excellent programme to expand the
sporting opportunities for less active
young people across the country by

Supporter
of the
month
If you’re excited about Change4Life supermeals and want to
support the campaign, this month’s supporter of the month
will hopefully inspire you with how a national campaign can
be brought to life at a local level.
Crawley Wellbeing is a active Change4Life local supporter.
As part of the really big summer adventure they distributed
600 Change4Life goody bags through family and children’s
centres, community centres, summer fetes and summer day
camps across Crawley.
As well as the really big summer adventure voucher book, the goody bags
were stuffed full of Change4Life resources – including several that Crawley
Wellbeing has developed to address the needs of their local community,
focussing on issues such as weight management and men’s health.
Crawley residents were also able to pick up a voucher
book from their local leisure centre or through Crawley
Wellbeing’s Weight off Workshops and swimming
referral programme.
In September, their Wellbeing Outreach team took part in the
junior citizen event for Crawley’s primary schools. Over 1,000
young people aged 10 - 11 years old took part and the team
used snack swappers and fun wheels to teach them about healthy
eating and getting their daily 60 active minutes.
Crawley also boasts two of the top Walk4Life miles,
one in Goffs Park and the other in Worth Park,
which are proving to be the most popular walks on
the Walk4Life website, having been downloaded
700 times and 632 times respectively. To put this in
context - their nearest challenger is a walk in Durham
that has only been viewed 391 times!

work Crawley Wellbeing is doing visit
