UCL Institute of Child Health, London Nasendoscopy Training for SLTs on Speech and Velopharyngeal Function Part 1: Tuesday 14th & Wednesday 15th June 2016 Part 2: Thursday 6th October 2016 Nasendoscopy is one of the gold Who should attend? standard methods of assessment This 3 day course is designed for specialist SLTs in cleft lip and palate and velopharyngeal dysfunction, who are regularly seeing patients with speech difficulties associated with VPI. Day 3 is open to other members of the Cleft Lip and Palate Team. of speech difficulties associated with velopharyngeal dysfunction and falls within the remit of speech and language therapists. The aim of this 3 day course is to provide comprehensive theoretical and practical handson training for SLTs, with a focus on the latter. It will illustrate how SLT nasendoscopy clinics can be introduced, integrated and established as a service. Day 3 will focus on interpretation Why you should attend? This course will provide you with the basic skills in undertaking nasendoscopy and its interpretation, and what must be considered when initiating a speech and language therapy led service. It will enrich your understanding of cleft speech by “seeing speech”, and ultimately improve your contribution in the multidisciplinary management of structurally related speech disorders.
