READ THESE INSTRUCTIONS FIRST The test is in two parts, which are to be attempted by all candidates. At the start of the examination, all candidates must be given a copy of the question paper for Paper 1. Candidates may be given a break of up to 20 minutes before being given the question paper for Paper 2. In all sections the instructions to candidates and timed playings of the extracts are recorded EXCEPT for the longer pauses at the end of Sections D and E. Follow the Instructions to Supervisors during the examination for the timings of these pauses. Supervisors must check CDs as soon as they are received. Also, on the teaching day before the examination, the acoustics must be tested in the room to be used for the examination. The extracts on which this examination is based have been recorded on a CD and should be played on a good quality CD player. Prior to the examination locate the correct tracks on the CD for the prescribed focus and set work that your candidates have chosen in Sections D and E. Instructions to Supervisors during the Examination 1. Give all candidates a copy of the question paper for Paper 1. 2. Start the CD for Sections A, B and C. 3. At the end of section C you will hear ‘This is the end of Paper 1’. 4. Stop the CD. 5. Collect in the candidates’ question papers. 6. Candidates may then be given a break of up to 20 minutes between Paper 1 and Paper 2. 7. Give all candidates a copy of the question paper for Paper 2. 8. For Section D select the prescribed focus on the CD that your candidates have chosen. 9. Start the CD. 10. At the end of Section D you will hear ‘you now have 5 minutes to complete and check your answers in this section’. This document consists of 2 printed pages. For Section E select the set work on the CD that your candidates have chosen. 14. Start the CD. 15. At the end of Section E you will hear ‘you now have 10 minutes to complete and check your answers in this section’. 16. Stop the CD. 17. Wait for 10 minutes while candidates complete and check their answers. 18. Collect in the candidates’ question papers.
