On the Eve of Islamia College Centenary
The Qurtuba University is bringing out a special souvenir as a tribute
to the 100 years services of grand institution. We are grateful to the
alumni who enthusiastically contributed to the make up, form and
content of this publication .The president of Qurtuba University is an
old student of the college. He supported the initiative and approved the
commemoration with deep feelings of appreciation.
Dr. Abdul Matin mooted the idea and wrote for the purpose.

Sahibzada Abdul Qaiyum, the founder of Islamia College championing the cause of
modern education and tagging Islamic learning and culture to the system in vogue at
that time. He has left behind the task of completing the system of enlightenment,
acculturation and pursuit of truth. We have inherited from him the laudable example of
how to go about designing the establishment, organization, financing, management and
running of educational institutions and suitably connecting them with the stakeholders.
The will, willingness, resources and capabilities for HRD are vast indeed. We have to tap
the wherewithal and avail the promising opportunities for teleologicallly comprehensive
education.

Principals
The Navigators of Islamia College
Principals who were in charge of leading the distinguished academic
team duly involved in standard delivery of service. They were focused
on the cognitive growth, character development and results orientation
of the students. Appropriate teaching, sound intellectual guidance and
fostering of pupils self concept and performance were aimed at. They
attended to the formal periodic recapacitation, facilitation and inducement
of staff for stipulated inputs, processes and outputs. The intermittent
distractions and conflictual occurrences were sagaciously checked,
controlled and contained. The ethos of coordinated efforts and symbiotic
relationships were systematically built up.
All heads of organization are aware that occasional convulsions in
management are facts of life. March towards the ideals is rarely smooth.
It is with resolve that managers reckon with difficult decision making,
non maintenance of standards and reversion to sub normal role play and
weak professional performance. The stakeholders sooner or later muster
courage, pool wisdom and roundup talents to re- rail institutions. The
Islamia College University is fortunately conscious of the settlement of
problems, resolution of tensions and prioritization of the mission ahead
and planning of the academic and Co-curricular activities in the best
possible manner.

President of Qurtuba University, committed to the high aims and objectives of
the institution. He intends enthusiastic engagement of faculty members in the
dissemination of knowledge and development of skills. The extension of outreach
service, conduct of action-oriented research and publication of creative ideas as
well as positive narratives containing innovative guidelines and deep insights are
on his agenda.

Editor of ‘The Dialogue’ journal publishing on quarterly basis well articulated essays,
research findings and imaginative ideas that touch, move and direct observations,
reflective thinking, sense of belonging. The publications evoke feelings of attachment
as well as stimulate right choices, good decision making and orderly actions with
regard to what matters in life, system and institutions for the promotion of values,
realization of interest, cohesion of society and actualization of self.

Author of the two presentations. He narrates the tale of Islamia College Peshawar from the perspective of
institutional functions, creativity, excellence of performance and continuing innovative dynamism and
existential adaptation. The chronicle of the college and privileged role players associated with it is presented.
Our memories of the principals are refreshed who displayed the institutional vision, proclaimed the
organizational mission, programmed the mandated objectives and executed their functions in the frame work
of authority, resources and consensual symbiotic team work. They ensured Quality control and desired results.
Deviations were taken care of. Professional credentials and academic contributions formed the basis of staff
induction, promotion and reinforcement. The intermittent setbacks were taken in stride and organizationally
responded to with recalibrated prudential management and normative operation.
The convocation address of the author is descriptive of the essence of his life-long experiences and brings out
the case for the introduction of complete education. The necessity of learning new ideas and high ideals is
highlighted. The need of systematic direction of thinking, feelings and activities towards positive relatedness
with humanity and multi- dimensional collectivities is set forth. The intellectual capacitation and inner
motivations for the exploration of matter and material offered by nature and culture are stated. The underlining
premise is that energy at every level is released through moral and spiritual cultivation and consequential good
conduct. The virtues of man in individual as well as collective capacity begin with a kind heart and flourishing
soul. Education is really the tracking of students on the path of acquiring comprehensive knowledge and
learning connectivity with inner self, outer reality of nature, civilization and transcendental supreme creator.
What matters in education and is decisive for the rise of self civilization and control of negativities within as
well as without centre around the coherent development of intellectual intelligence, emotional genius, spiritual
gift and psycho- motor abilities to explore and understand the order prevailing in the universe and to avail the
opportunities for happiness, harmony and salvation.
