Dr David Cameron David is the Education Programmes Manager at the Institute of Physics. In this role, he directly manages the Stimulating Physics Network (SPN), a national educational programme funded by the Department for Education, which aims to increase the uptake of A-level physics across England. The SPN has a proven track record and has made a significant contribution to the national increase in Alevel physics numbers. David has oversight of a number of other IOP education projects, including Capital Physics, Return to Teaching, Improving Gender Balance and the IOP Teacher Network; David advises on the administration of the IOP Teacher Training Scholarship programme and the IOP’s approval of Teacher Subject Specialism Training (TSST) courses. He has developed and launched a number of other projects, working with individual schools, academy chains, universities and government. His previous role was Associate Director, Mentoring in the Teach First National ITT Partnership, with responsibility for developing the quality and consistency of school-based mentoring across the Teach First programme. Prior to this, he was a history teacher and Head of History in state-funded and independent schools. David holds a doctorate in education from Canterbury Christ Church University; his thesis was ‘A study of mentoring in the Teach First programme’. He also sits on the local governing body of a secondary free school in Kent.
