Scope and Contents note
The records of the Faculty Senate consist of administrative materials, such as copies of the Senate's
constituion and by laws, as well as legal records pertaining to the coordination of strike activities and
the recognition of the organization. At times, the Senate has had tense relationships with the college's
administration, and thus the records also include photographs of teachers on strike or in contract
negotiations with Harper College, and documentation of no confidence votes. All contracts agreed to
between the Senate and Harper College are included in this collection.

Restriction on Records is Lifted
When portions of these records were donated to the Harper College Archvies by members of the Faculty
Senate, they requested that access to these materials be restricted until the president of the college at the
time (Dr. Breuder) retired. That president stepped down in 2009, and thus the records that were restricted
are now open for access to all.
