WINTER 2014:
♦ BIO 150 in Costa Rica with Biology Professor Craig Stettner (Jan. 2-12)
Study tropical ecosystems on site with a specific focus on elements of the tropical rainforests that
most interest you. Explore primary and secondary rainforests, tropical seasonal forests and
mangrove communities. Living in an isolated biological field stations for five days with veteran
Costa Rican naturalist will give you the knowledge and experience to speak with authority on
tropical rainforests when you have finished the course.
Each student will have a field project of his or her own choosing, which will be approved by an
instructor before the trip and developed with the instructor’s assistance, if requested.
For additional information, contact Craig Stettner at cstettne@harpercollege.edu
SPRING BREAK 2014:

SPRING 2014:
♦ SOC 205 in London with Sociology Professor James Gramlich (May 17-30)
Understand the impact of place by studying contemporary social problems in culturally vibrant
London. After a spring semester of field work in Chicago, you’ll spend two weeks exploring the
same broad set of issues in London. Emphasis will be placed on the impact of institutions, history,
and other aspects of place as you consider the process of social change and its impact on people’s
lives in these two great cities.
For additional information, contact James Gramlich at jgramlich@harpercollege.edu
♦ ART 105 in Paris with Professors Karen Patterson and Stephany Rimland (May 20-June 2)
Experience art in one of the greatest artistic and cultural centers of the world. Stroll through history
in the galleries of the Louvre Museum, saturate your senses in the kaleidoscope-filled Chartres
Cathedral, and revel at the reflections in Monet’s famous water lily pond at Giverny.
