Important Reminder to complete the Exit Counseling In an effort to keep you informed regarding updates and changes on student financial aid, we will periodically send a financial aid newsletter to all students. Please take the time to read the information below, as it includes several very significant changes to your student financial aid for the Fall 2014. We will continue to send newsletters as important information becomes available. Graduating 2014-2015? Important Reminder to complete the Exit Counseling Federal Work-Study Exit counseling is now available to all students who expect to graduate and/or complete their degree requirements during the 2014-2015 academic year. Students graduating Fall 2014 are required to complete the Exit Counseling on or before December 1, 2014. Spring Graduates should complete Exit Counseling by April 15, 2015. Frequently Asked Questions? XU Academic Scholarship Terms and Conditions XU Academic Scholarship Terms and Conditions Satisfactory Academic Progress (SAP) DON’T GET ZAPPED BY SAP! Get to Know Your Financial Aid Counselors Office Hours Counseling Hours Freshmen who are awarded any Academic Scholarship must complete a Scholarship Terms and Conditions Form in order to receive the scholarship funds. If you have not completed this, please do so ASAP so that your scholarship funds may be disbursed to your account and you may continue to receive your scholarship. UNCF Scholarship Profiles Be sure to update your UNCF online profiles so that you can receive information on scholarships you may be eligible to apply for. Scholarship Retention: All Xavier Academic Scholarship recipients must maintain a 3.3 cumulative GPA in order to maintain eligibility of your scholarship. All students will be assessed at the end of each academic year to assure that you have met the retention requirements. Any student who is currently on scholarship probation will be assessed once the Fall 2014 semester ends. TOPS Students receiving the TOPS scholarship must be sure to complete at least 24 credit hours by the end of each academic year (including summer) in order to retain your award. The GPA requirements for TOPS are as follows: TOPS Opportunity 2.5 TOPS Opportunity 2.3 (Freshmen) TOPS Performance 3.0 TOPS Honors 3.0 Please review the SAP policy on the Financial Aid website to view the eligibility requirements for financial aid. http://www.xula.edu/financial-aid/sappolicy.php We encourage you to utilize the SAP Completion Ratio (PACE) to track your SAP Progress, by clicking on the access calculator: Federal Work-Study Are you interested in earning $15.00 per hour? Do you love working with children and the local community? If so, the Community Service Work-Study program may be perfect for you! Please complete a Work-study Request Form indicating your interest for Community Service Work-Study at: http://www.xula.edu/financialaid/documents/FederalWorkStudyRequestForm.pdf or contact the Work-Study Coordinator for additional information. Eligibility requirements: Must have a valid FAFSA. Must have a financial need. Have reliable transportation. Must pass a drug test and background check. ***All Majors are Welcome! Math and Physics majors are a plus!*** Page 2 Q: What is the last day to request a loan for fall semester? A: The end of the fall semester is fast approaching and in order to process a loan in a timely manner, December 5th is the last day to request a loan. Q: Will my Financial Aid be the same for next semester? A: Yes, all Financial Aid awards are made for the Academic year, however in some cases awards are adjusted to prevent an over award due to receipt of scholarship Q. Why do I have to swipe my XULA ID at the beginning of each class? A. It is a federal requirement that we take attendance; therefore you are required to swipe your XULA ID in each registered class in order for your financial aid to post to your account. Check your XULA E-mail to find out if you have been selected for a process called Verification. If you have not filed your FAFSA please do so at www.fafsa.ed.gov . If you have not signed up for a PIN, log onto www.pin.ed.gov .
