project offering an exciting opportunity to join the environmentally
friendly future of motorsport.
A team of seven final-year Masters students are developing, building
and improving an EV Go-Kart which will race in the 2013 evGP at the
Indianapolis Motor Speedway in the U.S.

The evGP is an annual racing event, endorsed by President
Obama, organised in the US by Purdue University, Indiana.
Teams from all over the world converge on Indiana to race
electric go karts they have designed and built. The competition
demands a high standard of engineering, organisation and
teamwork and fosters innovative engineering approaches.
This culminates in two evGP races held in April/May at
Purdue University’s go kart track in West Lafayette, Indiana
and at the world famous Indianapolis Speedway. In both
events teams are also assessed on the design of their karts as
well as their educational outreach into the local schools and
communities.

The event has helped raise the profile of zero-emissions
technology in motorsport, as well as giving engineers of the
future practical exposure to the subject. As a result of this
success, it is expected that there will be a UK based evGP
event during our 2012/13 season, making the event more
accessible to UK and EU universities.

Warwick Racing evGP Results
Warwick Racing have competed in the evGP since 2011 and in our
inaugural year achieved a 4th Place finish. In the 2012 competition the
Warwick team finished equal 1st in a field of thirty collegiate entrants and
gained international coverage on TV networks, the internet and print
media.
None of this would have been possible without the support of our partners.

Sustainable Motorsport
The financial viability of motorsport has come under increasing pressure in
recent years. A reduction in OEM vehicle manufacturer participation in
professional race series has been driven by financial cost savings coupled
with brand image and environmental concerns. The evGP project aims to
promote innovation using green technologies that are not yet commonplace
in motorsport and more widely in industry. The focus is on the manufacture
of an energy efficient, race worthy electric go-kart which encourages design
for a sustainable and environmentally responsible future.

Eco-Awareness
It is increasingly important for businesses to develop eco-friendly,
sociably responsible images. Warwick Racing’s evGP team can help
companies of all sizes improve their public image and green
credentials. Supporting Warwick racing can help raise your profile
amongst an increasingly eco-aware public and pool of potential
graduate employees.
Recruitment Opportunities
Warwick University is looking to build
long term relationships with sponsors on
this project as the competition develops
into the future.
The project already has a high profile within Warwick’s School of
Engineering and we are working to achieve a high profile
throughout the university, thereby providing direct access for our
sponsors to some of the best graduates in Europe. Warwick evGP are
happy to support sponsor recruitment activities on campus and
provide unique access to Warwick students for potential employers.
Warwick Racing frequently work on outreach programs to raise the
profile of STEM in the UK. These events would give our sponsors the
opportunity to support this cause and improve their visibility
amongst the graduates of tomorrow.
