Mathematics
The study of mathematics uncovers the hidden patterns that help us to understand the world around us and
the variety of transferable skills developed on a maths degree are some of the most highly sought after in
the graduate labour market.
In addition to highly developed numerical and quantitative skills, mathematicians develop the ability to solve
challenging problems innovatively, to learn quickly and to think logically.
A mathematics degree will develop your analytical skills to a very high level and your ability to interpret
complex and technical information and data will appeal to graduate recruiters in many industries.

The student perspective…
“I can thoroughly recommend the mathematics course at Warwick. It has provided me firstly with a good
grounding in all the major areas of importance in advanced mathematics. Next, due to the course being very
flexible and the wide variety of options available, I was able to quickly focus on the areas that particularly
interested me. I had plenty of opportunities for studying modules outside of maths; I studied two languages
and took modules in philosophy, physics, programming and education alongside my maths courses. Though I
have now reached a high level of speciality, my studies have certainly been very varied! I have found that the
skills I have acquired during my time at Warwick are very desirable in the job market. I would say the most
useful skills I have honed are the ability to quickly assimilate very complicated and abstract concepts,
creatively apply them to problems and then effectively communicate solutions. I also had a great time being
involved in a bunch of societies! My degree has set me up either to continue with research or pursue an
interesting and lucrative professional career. The Warwick maths course has a deservedly high reputation
and I got interviews with very selective international companies based on it. The course is not easy but the
rewards are great.”
