UCL MEDICAL SCHOOL MEDICAL SCHOOL ADMISSIONS Applications From Graduates for the undergraduate MBBS degree at UCL Graduates (and students in the final year of their degree) who wish to be considered for entry to the medical degree programme must apply via UCAS and sit the BMAT. There is no fast-track (four year) Graduate Entry Programme at UCL. Our graduates follow the same programme of study as the undergraduate students, except that they will complete the course within five years instead of six (Year 3 – the iBSc year – is waived). Academic requirements 1. An upper second-class Honours (2.1) degree from a recognised UK university. Science and non-science graduates are considered equally. Degrees awarded by universities outside the UK are not acceptable. 2. Graduate applicants should also offer Chemistry and Biology at A-level. Alternatively, full details of any Biology or Chemistry modules studied at undergraduate level may be submitted to Medical Admissions but only in advance of an application being made – these will then be considered as possible alternatives, although please note that normally the requirements for A-levels in Chemistry and Biology are not waived. 3. Graduates are normally expected to have achieved grades of at least ABB in A-levels taken prior to their degree. Any A-levels taken after the degree would need to be at grade A* or A. The usual requirement for grade B in GCSE English and Mathematics also applies. How to apply 1. The BMAT is used as part of our selection process. The test is compulsory for all applicants and scores from other admissions tests (such as UKCAT or GAMSAT) cannot be substituted. 2. Applicants must apply through UCAS by the deadline of 15 October. Details of all qualifications must be given on the UCAS form. The UCAS reference should be an academic reference (e.g. written by a tutor from your degree programme). If you any grades are pending (either for your degree or for any A-levels) then you must provide predicted grades from the appropriate tutor. Finance Graduates intending to apply should make sure they are in a position to finance their studies. Unfortunately, there are very few grants or scholarships available. Successful applicants will be required to complete a financial guarantee as a condition of their offer. As a guide, UK fees are currently in the region of £9000 per year, with at least an additional £10,000 per year recommended for living expenses. Graduates taking a second undergraduate degree are likely to be ineligible for further loans from Student Finance England, necessitating the payment of tuition fees upfront at the beginning of each academic year and other means of support being available for living costs.
