Zug, Switzerland, September 18, 2009 – Landis+Gyr, in cooperation with SAP
AG (NYSE: SAP), is offering energy utilities a new dimension in the transpa ‐ rency and availability of energy data.
The companies have cooperated on the development of a state ‐ of ‐ the ‐ art meter data unification and synchronisation
(MDUS) system, an advanced software platform that integrates Landis+Gyr’s
Advanced Metering Management (AMM) head ‐ end system with SAP’s com ‐ prehensive business software for utilities.
Integrating smart metering and enterprise services saves costs, improves process efficiency, and brings utili ‐ ties one step closer to an interoperable Smart Grid.
Gridstream MDUS from Landis+Gyr is a gateway that performs two ‐ way com ‐ munication and enables end ‐ to ‐ end business processes – from the meter to business applications.
Gridstream MDUS covers all functions and interfaces required for meter validation and estimation, network management, billing, and customer relationship management.
The advanced software is interoper ‐ able with third ‐ party systems using an IEC standard ‐ based interface.
“Liberalisation and deregulation of energy markets has led to new challenges being placed on our customers, the utilities, in the areas of meter data processing, billing and customer services.
Together with SAP, we aim to sim ‐ plify utility business processes and provide them with a significant savings potential,” says Andreas Umbach, president and COO, Landis+Gyr.
“I am cer ‐ tain that with Gridstream MDUS, we can provide utilities with a modular and interoperable system architecture that will support them in improving their competitiveness.
In addition, we can help bring utilities one step closer to the
Smart Grid – a smart, secure, energy supply network.”
Gridstream MDUS is the first solution to be produced as a result of the soft ‐ ware development cooperation agreement between the two market leaders, which was announced earlier this year.
The cooperation between two trusted names in their respective industries demonstrates their proactive anticipation of the future market requirements of utilities.
Landis+Gyr will present Gridstream MDUS at the International SAP® Utilities
