NOTES
PRESENT
Bob Brown, Michael Burns (phone), Dan Calderwood, Michael Dennis,
Tim Flanagan, Utpal Goswami, Jeff Grabinski, Anita Janis (phone),
Sharrie King, Tami Matsumoto, Keith Snow-Flamer, Carla Spalding,
Steve Stratton.
MEETING
NOTES
Meeting notes from the November 17, 2010, BPC meeting were
approved as presented.
FINAL BUDGET
Carla presented a hard copy of the 10/11 Final Budget to each member
in attendance. Those attending by phone were advised to refer to the
December 7 board packet that is posted on the CR website which
includes the final budget. She called attention to the letter of
introduction and provided an overview of fund structures. She also
noted that an actuarial study is being conducted to determine district
contributions to Fund 78, the employee benefit trust fund. The study is
expected to be completed soon and presented to the Board of Trustees in
January. Carla reported that the ending balance for the fiscal year 09/10
was only slightly different from what the year-end projections were.
There was also discussion regarding student account receivables and
options available to collect student debts.
CHART OF
ACCOUNTS &
BUDGET
SIMULATION
Utpal gave Power Point presentation of the Chart of Accounts and how
the general ledger budget code is broken out. He also reviewed a budget
simulation worksheet that he developed to show various budget
scenarios. The worksheet will be sent out to committee members so that
they can experiment on their own with different scenarios.
NEXT MEETING
The next meeting will be January 12, at 3:30 p.m. and following
meetings will be set up for the 2nd and 4th Wednesdays of the month
through February. At the end of February a determination will be made
to determine the frequency of meetings through the remainder of the
spring.
ADJOURNED
The meeting was adjourned at 3:00 p.m.

In Susan Mindus' absence, Sue Alton called the committee together on December 22 to prioritize the furniture and equipment listed in the addendum requests to program review. Sue, Matt, and Karen prioritized all of the items which were then shared/reviewed with the remaining committee members. Consensus was reached (no The committee prioritized the items in the same manner as the original requests to program review. Items were prioritized using the following rubric:
Health and Safety (does not meet health and safety standards including those for ADA compliance)
Direct classroom instruction
Can be tied to the Strategic Plan
Will enhance instruction
While evaluating the items using the above rubric, the following was also factored in:
Number of students served
Location and population of site
Level of importance to the program as noted in request
Cost of item/repair
Viability of program
Items within a department that were equal in importance were prioritized in the order presented

FTES. In the future, the Department of Labor (DOL)
grant will supply new machines that can be used in
existing booths. The additional equipment should
help with this issue. Some floor space was lost due
to expansion of the Machine Shop. This area was
once used for the instruction in Sheet Metal and
the Foundry Area, however, neither is taught at
this time. The Foundry Area was totally removed
and the Sheet Metal Area was converted to an MT
computer lab. The sheet metal equipment was put
into the Welding Shop Area. Although the sheet
metal equipment is used in the welding program,
it cuts down on the floor space for welding. The
return to the original floor space or even an
increased area would be a benefit for student
projects.
