1. Updates:
 Course‐LevelPlanning–TheAssessmentCoordinatorhasbeenworkingwithDeans
andfacultytocompletethecourse‐levelplanningpagesfortheirdisciplines.The
programreviewprocesshasbeenusefulforidentifyingareaswhereplanshavenotbeen
completed.Insomecasesfacultywerenotawareofthenewprocess
 ClosingLoops–Facultyareclosingloops.Somehaddifficultyfindingthe“openloop”
siteandothersweresurprisedtofindsomanyloopshadbeencreated.TheAssessment
Coordinator(Dave)hasbeenworkingwithfacultytounderstandtheprocess
 ILOdiscussionatSenateandDeans/Directorsmeetings–TheInstitutionalLearning
OutcomesproposalwasreviewedbyboththeAcademicSenateandDeans/Directors
counsel.Minorrevisionsweresuggested,otherwisebothgroupsprovidedenthusiastic
supportoftheproposal.ItwillnowbeforwardedtothePresidentforBoard
consideration.

2. Discussion
‐ RolesandresponsibilitiesofAssessmentandAssessmentPlanning

AssessmentCoordinator
ConsiderablediscussionledtotheproposalofhavingatrainingfortheDeanstohighlight
theirrolesintheassessmentprocessandtodiscusspotentialproblemareas.Therewas
agreementthatweareinatransitionalperiodwheretheoldrolesofCoordinatorsno
longerexist.MuchofthisworkthenneedstobeoverseenbytheDeans.TheAssessment
CoordinatorwillcontactDr.Snow‐Flameraboutsettingupadiscussion/trainingwiththe
Deans.
‐ QualityandRequirementsofAssessmentProcessandReports
Thisdiscussionfocusedaroundacoupleofproceduralandqualityissues.Oneismaking
surethatstudentwork(artifacts)arekeptanonymous.Thesecondconcernedhow
assessmentsfrommultiplesectionsandmultiplefacultywereused.Therewasconcern
thattheassessmentresultsfromaspecificfacultymember’ssectionwouldbeusedasa
meansofevaluatingtheperformanceofthefaculty.TheAssessmentCommittee
emphasizedthatthiswasnottheroleoftheassessmentprocess,andthattheAssessment
Handbookandotherresources(includingcontractualdocuments)emphasizethat
assessmentisintendedforcourseorprogramimprovementsbutnotasameansof
evaluatingfaculty.TheAssessmentCoordinatorwillworkonanannouncement/reminder
tosendouttofacultyprovidingguidanceregardingtheseissues.Thereminderwillbe
sharedwiththeAssessmentCommitteepriortobedistributedtofaculty.Wewillwait
untilafterthefacultyhavecompletedtheirProgramReviewsbeforereleasingthese
guidelines.
3. SoftwareDemonstration–Programlevelmapping(PaulChown)
PaulChownshowedtheAssessmentgroupanewtoolformappingcourseoutcomesto
program‐leveloutcomes.ThiswillbediscussedinmoredetailatthenextAssessment
Committeemeeting.TheCommitteeisencouragedtoreviewthenewonlinetoolatthe
followingURL.But,pleasedonotdistributethisbeyondthecommittee.

outcomes.Thecourseoutcomeswillbeupdatedascurriculumoutlinesareapprovedand
posted,buttheactualmappingofcourseoutcomestoprogramoutcomesneedtobe
selectedusingtheeditingtoolprovided.
